We put the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Matte Foundation to the test after receiving a complimentary sample from the brand. Keep reading for our full product review.
Whether you love a matte or dewy finish, the right foundation choice often comes down to your skin type. If you’re on the oily side, a matte formula will minimize excess shine while still adding coverage. If you have dry or combination skin, you can still use matte foundations, but proper hydration and priming will be key. A matte foundation at the top of my must-try list has been the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Matte Foundation: It claims to be a thin, breathable full-coverage formula that's humidity-resistant, promising a natural finish. Packed with skincare favorites like hyaluronic acid and vitamin E, it sounds almost too good to be true. Read on for our full review of the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation to learn whether it's a hit or miss.

About the brand: Lancôme is a French beauty brand that offers a range of high-end skincare, makeup, and fragrance products. With celebrity fans including Julia Roberts and Lupita Nyong'o, Lancôme continues to be a favorite for those seeking high-performance, luxurious beauty products.
About My Skin: Mostly dry
My skin is generally dry with occasional oiliness in my T-zone, so I naturally gravitate towards dewy finishes to avoid dry patches. But sometimes, that glow can feel overwhelming, and I’m currently not a fan of setting powders. Lately, I've been loving the Haus Labs foundation for its coverage and skin-friendly ingredients.
The Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation offers 55 shades to fit a wide range of skin tones, but it did take some investigating to make sure I chose the one that matched best. Lancôme recommends using the product on clean, moisturized skin for the best outcome.

How to Apply: Customize for desired coverage
Even if you’ve used Lancôme's Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation before, it's a good idea to color swatch again, as the brand has updated the shade range and numbers. Once you've decided on your best shade, you have a few options for application, depending on your skin type and desired level of coverage. For starters, you can either apply the product on its own, or mixed with a serum or moisturizer if your skin is on the drier side. Then, use a brush if you want full coverage, a damp beauty sponge for medium to full coverage, or your fingers to achieve a light, natural look. Start with a small amount, blend thoroughly, and build coverage as needed.

The Results: All-day coverage with a lightweight feel
When I first swatched the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation onto my hand, its texture was lightweight and on the runny side, which I wasn’t expecting. Still, the coverage is noticeable right from the start, and I was easily able to achieve a medium- to full-coverage look. Throughout the day, the foundation felt breathable on my skin. I spent some time outdoors and even completed a HIIT class, yet I didn’t feel like my foundation was melting off or fading. It also mixed well with my other products, such as my concealer, blush, and bronzer.

I prepped my skin with hydrating products to achieve a glowier look, but even with that, the foundation maintained a natural finish that didn't skew oily or shiny. It lasted all day without needing any touch-ups (though by the end of the night, I did notice the foundation had attached to some dry patches on my cheeks, which is to be expected after hours and hours of wear).
The Value: Impressive and well worth it
The Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation is on the pricier side, but its long-wear and skincare benefits are worth it. The foundation offers buildable matte, natural-looking coverage, so you can achieve the exact look you’re going for. The improved formula includes ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and moringa, which aid in smoothing skin texture and protecting your skin barrier, plus SPF 25. If you have extremely dry skin, this might not be the best option, but if you have dry to combination skin, it can still work for you.
If a matte finish is important to you, this foundation is worth every penny. It delivers on its promise of being sweat-proof, lightweight, buildable, and providing a matte, natural-looking finish with 55 shade options available.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation: Fenty’s Pro Filt'r delivers a soft matte finish and is popular for its impressive shade range. It’s glowier than Lancôme’s Teint Idole Ultra Wear. Both are excellent, but Lancôme’s formula might be better if you want a more controlled matte finish with SPF.
Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation: Maybelline’s Fit Me provides a matte finish at a lower price point, with a focus on minimizing pores. However, it tends to be less buildable compared to Lancôme’s Teint Idole Ultra Wear.
Final Verdict: A smooth, natural finish with added benefits
My dry skin can get a bit oily around the T-zone, but Lancôme’s Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation gave me a smooth, natural finish without feeling heavy. It did cling to a few dry patches on my cheeks, but the long-lasting wear and added skincare benefits, like SPF 25, make it worth considering. This is a great choice for anyone who wants makeup and skincare in one.
